Coaches

Coach John

John Daugherty is a Director of Simulation and Data Science at Honeywell. He enjoys being a coach because he loves to see us accomplish our STEM goals.

Coach Shannon

Shannon Daugherty is a professional photographer. She enjoys being a coach because she is able to help future problem-solvers prepare to change the world.

Mentors and Teachers

Mr. Lind
Director of STEM Programs at Covington Catholic

Bob Lind is the coach for the Covington Catholic VEX Robotics teams. Mr. Lind has inspired us to work hard and never give up on our goals.

Mr. Humphrey
PLTW teacher at Turkeyfoot Middle School

Dwayne Humphrey is the coach for the Turkeyfoot and Dixie Heights VEX Robotics teams. Mr. Humphrey first introduced us to VEX and has encouraged us to work through our failures.

Mr. Rasmussen
Director of Oral Care Global at Proctor & Gamble

John Rasumussen is a mentor to the FRC team Bionic Tigers. Mr. Rasumussen has introduced us to key engieering principles that are commonly used in our years beyond VEX Robotics.

Mrs. Maher
Computer Science teacher at Randall K. Cooper High School

Jillian Maher has given us very important knowledge related to programming. Mrs. Maher has inspired us to create this website and optimize our code for VEX Robotics.

Mr. Palmer
PLTW teacher at Randall K. Cooper High School

Gary Palmer has helped us learn about the design process and Autodesk Invetor. Mr. Palmer has given us insight about key engineering principles and programs that are commonly used in companies.

Sponsors

We would like to thank the Bosch Community Fund for providing us with financial support. Their generous donation has allowed us to purchase the new VEX sensors and cover our building materials. The new VEX color sensors have allowed us to create an auto sorter for more efficient programs and more ease in driving. The funding for tournaments has allowed us to travel to different states to still compete, despite the limitations put on by COVID-19. Without the support from Bosch, we would not have had the same amazing season we have had so far.

Mission

"We are motivated by the desire to develop products that are "Invented for life" that spark enthusiasm, that improve quality of life, and that help conserve natural resources."

Impact on Our Team

The Bosch Community Fund has allowed us to purchase many much needed materials for our robot. We have used their generous donation to get the new sensors released by VEX. These sensors have greatly increased the accuracy and efficiency of our robot and autonomous. We are using the new color sensors to automatically sort balls during the autonomous period of VEX "Change Up." We are also using the new distance sensor, which allows us to get accurate location measurements during both competition and skills autonomous periods. Because of Bosch's donation, we are able to learn more about programming and designing for our robot.

We would also like to thank P&G Core fund for providing us with financial support. Their charitable donation has allowed us to purchase the newly legal flex wheels. These wheels have helped us to create a new and better intake. This has greatly improved the speed and efficiency of intaking and descoring balls. Without P&G’s support our season and robot would have been much different than it has been so far.

Mission

"We will provide branded products and services of superior quality and value that improve the lives of the world's consumers, now and for generations to come."

Impact on Our Team

The P&G Core fund has allowed us to purchase important building materials for our robot. We have used their kind assistance to obtain the new flex wheels offered by VEX. These wheels have greatly improved the speed and compression of our intake. We are using the flex wheels to create compression on balls while descoring from goals and picking up from the field. P&G's donation has opened us up to learn more about applying new materials to different designs for our robot.
